Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi, Daughters Booked In ‘Land For Jobs’ Scam; RJD Calls CBI ‘Caged Parrot’
RJD chief Lalu Yadav, who has been convicted in multiple fodder scam cases over the last five years and is out on bail, is in fresh trouble.
The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a new corruption case against him and raided at least 17 locations linked to the leader, including premises of his wife and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, in Delhi and Patna.
The CBI has accused Yadav of a recruitment scam when he was the railway minister in the Manmohan Singh government.
Yadav had allegedly taken land from aspirants for granting them railway jobs.
The CBI has filed the case against Yadav, Rabri Devi and daughters Misa and Hema. They have also named several candidates. The agency filed the case under section 120-B, which deals with criminal conspiracy.
Meanwhile, RJD called the CBI caged parrot.
Senior party leader Alok Mehta said the case was lodged in order to muzzle a strong voice.
Prabhunath Yadav, brother of RJD chief Lalu Yadav said, “It is unfortunate that a person who is ill is being deliberately troubled like this. It is well known who is behind this.”
Yadav had been the railway minister during UPA 1. He was widely praised by the media for better managing the railways and increasing revenue by introducing innovative schemes. He was called by several management schools, including IIMs, for lectures on his model of management.
Lalu Yadav was sent to jail in December 2017 in connection with the Deogarh treasury case, which was linked to the larger fodder scam probe. In the Dumka case, he was sentenced to 14 years in jail.
In February this year, Yadav was fined Rs 60 lakh and sentenced to five years in the Doranda case.
He was released on bail last month.
Yadav has not been keeping well and has been admitted to hospitals on several occasions.
