After 5G, PM Narendra Modi Makes BIG Announcement On 6G Services In India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the government is planning to launch 6G services by the end of this decade. His announcement at the grand finale of Smart India Hackathon 2022 comes days ahead of the launch of 5G services in India.

“Today, optical fibres are being laid in villages on a war-footing. You know that 5G services will be launched in India. By the end of this decade, we are preparing to launch 6G services,” the prime minister said in his address on Thursday.

“The government is encouraging Indian solutions in gaming and entertainment. The way the government is investing, all of the youth should take advantage,” he added.

During his independence day speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort, PM Modi had said that the 5G services will be launched in India.

“Now we are stepping towards the era of 5G… won’t have to wait for long. We are taking optical fibre to every village. I have full knowledge that the dream of Digital India will pass through villages,” the prime minister had declared.

On Thursday, communications minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the government is hopeful of launching 5G services by October 12. “We are planning to roll out 5G services rapidly, telecom operators are working in that regard & installations are being done. Hopefully, we should be launching 5G services by October & then would further scale up in cities & towns,” ANI had quoted the minister as saying.

“As all of you are aware the spectrum auction was successfully concluded. The letters for harmonization frequency allocation have been issued well in time and simultaneously we have all been working for simplifying the right of way and installation processes,” he added.

According to reports, 5G services will be rolled out in 13 select cities in the first phase. Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Lucknow will be the cities which will avail the services first.
