Sensex Gains Over 150 Pts, Nifty At 19,377; Adani Stocks Lose, JioFin Gains

Domestic equities opened higher, with Sensex jumping around 100 points, tracking mixed global cues. BSE benchmark Sensex opened at 65,178.33, up 91 points from its previous close, while broader NSE Nifty50 gained 28 points to open at 19,375.55.

By 9.30 am, key indices pared their gains and slipped into negative, with Sensex trading 47.75 points, or 0.07 per cent lower at 65,039.50, and Nifty50 slipped 20.20 points, or 0.1 per cent to 19,327.25. However, by 9.50 am, indices jumped higher, and Sensex was trading 157.06 points, or 0.24 per cent higher at 65,244.31, and Nifty50 rose 29.70 points, or 0.15 per cent at 19,377.15.

Broader markets were trading in positive, as Nifty Smallcap 100 gained 0.48 per cent, followed by Nifty Smallcap 250 rising 0.45 per cent, Nifty Midcap Select gained 0.39 per cent, Nifty Midcap 100 jumped 0.29 per cent, and Nifty Midcap 50 climbed 0.27 per cent.

Jio Financial was the top gainer in today’s session, as the stock gained over 4 per cent. Other top gaining stocks in the morning session were HCLTech, Hindalco, LTI Mindtree, Tech Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Axis Bank, Power Grid, Titan, Dr Reddy, ICICI Bank, TCS, and Infosys.

Meanwhile, stocks that lost the most were Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, Eicher Motors, BPCL, Asian Paints, Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Finance, Britannia, and Tata Consumer.
