PM Modi To Hold Meeting With US Vice President Kamala Harris Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in the United States today, commencing his three-day trip from September 23 to 25. He will begin his visit by meeting with US Vice President Kamala Harris today, September 23.

This will be the first-ever in-person meeting of PM Modi and Kamala Harris, who have only interacted virtually before this. Kamala Harris made history by being the first-ever Indian origin and African American vice president of the United States.

PM Modi landed in Washington DC today, early in the morning. He landed at Joint Base Andrews airbase in Washington DC at 3.30 am (IST) on Thursday, commencing his jam-packed visit to the US. He was greeted by swarms of Indians living in the US, who were waving the Indian flag.

Thanking the Indian population of Washington DC for the warm welcome, PM Modi said, “Grateful to the Indian community in Washington DC for the warm welcome. Our diaspora is our strength. It is commendable how the India diaspora has distinguished itself around the world.”

PM Modi is making a foreign visit after nearly six months, a time gap created due to the COVID pandemic. PM Modi addressed the global COVID-19 summit on his first day in the US, which was hosted by US President Joe Biden on the sidelined of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

PM Modi is scheduled to meet the US VP Kamala Harris today, September 23, and hold a meeting with US President Joe Biden tomorrow, September 24. He will also be participating in the first physical Quad summit that will be held in the White House tomorrow.

After the Quad summit, PM Modi will be travelling to New York to be a part of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) debate week which is currently underway. He is also scheduled to address the General Debate of the High-Level Segment of the UNGA 2021.
