“White Clad” To Represent Iran In 2022 OSCAR®
“White Clad” by Iranian Director Reza Fahimi, the winner of Grand Prix in 37th edition of Tehran international short film festival will be considered by ACADEMY AWARDS® for its 94th edition.
According to Iranian Youth cinema society (Public Relations), A production of the Iranian Youth Cinema Society by Reza Fahimi, “White Clad” is the story of an old woman who brings some goat’s milk cheese to Ahmad, a ten-year-old boy, so that he can give it to his father, who is a teacher, as a gift to urge him to intervene and stop the hanging of the woman’s son.
Tehran international short film festival is an ACADEMY AWARD® qualifying film festival and the winner of its Grand prix will be considered by OSCAR®.
The final nomination list for the 94th edition of ACADEMY AWARDS® will be announced on February 8th.
In early July, Sadeq Musavithe CEO of the Tehran International Short Film Festival (TISFF) said the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has approved registration the Tehran International Short Film Festival as an event whose awards can qualify a film for the Academy Awards®, the Iranian Youth Cinema Society (IYCS) is the main organizer of the festival.
Meanwhile, there are few festivals in Asia having this honor, for example, Egypt in North Africa and Japan, South Korea, Singapore and India are the sole countries having Academy Awards® qualifying festivals,” said IYCS director Sadeq Musavi who is also the director of the festival.
“At present, there are over 10,000 festivals being organized across the world, most of them are unreliable.
Meanwhile, the Tehran international short festival has a good status in the world, although the festival is not decidedly familiar, it can be considered as the most important short film festival in West Asia,” he added.
He said that there are only 127 short film festivals in the world whose awards can qualify a film for the Academy Awards®.
Tehran Short Film Festival is a member of the International Short Film Conference (ISFC).
