Cuba has decided to relax health measures for travellers. The country will relax its covid restrictions starting Wednesday.

According to the National Director of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Francisco Duran, travellers are not required to show a vaccination certificate upon arrival, or even show a negative COVID 19 report.

However, reports suggest that random sampling for COVID 19 will take place at the airports, and even at ports. This will mostly be directed at those passengers who are coming in from countries with a high rate of COVID 19 cases.

Moreover, those who test positive during such tests will be hospitalized, and all COVID 19 protocols shall be followed.

Passengers must also bear in mind that other COVID measures, such as wearing masks, maintaining social distance, and even hand washing continue to be in place.

Francisco Duran said in a statement, “The relaxation of measures took into account the high immunisation rate (against Covid-19) in the country, with three doses and a booster dose given to a large part of the population.”

Havana is Cuba’s most sought-after destination, and now travellers can look forward to visiting the beautiful city without much hassle.

The country has managed to vaccinate more than 9.9 million residents out of its 11.2 million residents. There are a total of 619 cases of new COVID 19 infections in Cuba, with one death.
