Issues On The Agenda For The Ecofin Council Meeting, 14 February
EU Ministers for Economic Affairs and Finance will convene in Brussels on 14 February for the second meeting of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) during the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The ministers’ discussion topics will include the ongoing economic governance review, which includes the rules to ensure sound public finances and growth in EU Member States.

The agenda in brief
Economic and financial impact of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine
A recurring agenda item addressing various economic and financial aspects of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. This meeting will have a particular focus on the sanctions against Russia, where the Commission is expected to provide a state of play and the ministers will have the opportunity to exchange views.
Economic governance review
The Council will discuss the ongoing economic governance review. The review includes the Stability and Growth Pact, i.e. a set of rules designed to ensure sound public finances and growth in the EU. Various parts of a possible reform will be discussed at the meeting, the aim being to identify initial values for further work.
Council implementing decisions under the Recovery and Resilience Facility
The Council will adopt an amending implementing decision approving the Commission’s assessment of the recovery and resilience plan for Germany.
Preparation of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting of 24-25 February 2023
The Council will approve the G20 EU terms of reference in view of the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting on 24–25 February 2023.
