The Uttarakhand Police stated that there has been continuous snowfall in Kedarnath Dham since this morning, and issued advisory for travellers to be more careful; tourists have also been asked to dial 112 for emergency assistance.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department has also issued an Orange Alert for bad weather in the state for the next four days from today. It also issued an alert for hailstorms and thunderstorms with a speed of 70 km per hour and heavy snowfall in areas above 3500 m.

The Meteorological Department, in its release, added that it has been snowing intermittently for the past 13 days in Kedarnath Dham, and the weather is still not clear in Kedarnath, and it is getting colder here because of snowfall.

Earlier, because of problems caused due to snowfall in Kedarnath and Badrinath, late-night Chardham yatris were stopped by police in Srinagar itself. Meanwhile, an announcement was also made to appeal to the passengers to stay in nearby cities.

As of now, pilgrims have been advised to continue their journey when the weather clears up.
