Nitish Kumar’s ask for meeting with governor intensifies buzz over rift with BJP
After holding a huddle of the MLAs at his residence, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has sought time with the governor for a meeting, sources have said.
The ask for a meeting with Governor Phagu Chauhan has further intensified the speculation that tensions among ruling coalition partners in Bihar – the BJP and the JD (U) – have peaked.
Sources have also said that the RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, who is the leader of opposition in the state assembly, is set to reach Nitish Kumar’s home and a total of 160 MLAs will head to meet the governor.
The RJD had held a separate meeting earlier in the day of its MLAs.
Bihar has been witnessing hectic parleys since Monday after senior leader RCP Singh quit the JD (U) over the weekend. This was followed by an announcement by the JD (U) that it would no longer have representation in the union council of ministers.
