PM Modi’s US Visit To Begin From Today: Focus On Quad Summit, UNGA, White House Meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to commence his 5-day trip to the United States from today, September 22. This trip holds a lot of significance as it has several meetings on agenda, to strengthen ties with several foreign countries for the long run.

This is PM Modi’s first international trip in around six months, as the second wave of the COVID pandemic hit in April. PM Modi is set to begin his trip from today, September 22, and fly back to India on Sunday, September 26, according to the statement of the Ministry of External Affairs.

During his visit to the US, PM Modi will keep his focus on the various events in the US this week. He is set to attend the Quad summit and the UN General Assembly debate week. PM Modi is also scheduled to meet US President Joe Biden on September 24 in the White House.

This will be the first time PM Modi and US President Joe Biden will be meeting face-to-face, ever since the latter got elected. They have interacted virtually several times before, such as at the Quad summit in March, the climate change meeting in April, and the G-7 meeting this June.

The statement of MEA said that the bilateral talks between the two leaders will focus on strengthening US- India relations, recent developments in Afghanistan, trade, and investment. They will also focus on figuring out a way to combat terrorism, apart from other regional issues.

The prime minister is also scheduled to meet with US Vice President Kamala Harris. According to reports, a meeting with Apple chief Tim Cook is also on the cards, but not confirmed yet. The Quad summit will be conducted in Washington, which focuses on strengthening international relations and other humanitarian factors in each country.

After the Quad summit, PM Modi will travel to New York to attend the UNGA 2021. PM Modi is set to address the 76th UN General Assembly meeting on September 25, 2021. The UNGA 2021 was addressed by US President Joe Biden yesterday, September 21.
