Presentation Of The Programme Of The Swedish Presidency

On Tuesday 17 January the Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson presented the programme of the Swedish Presidency to the European Parliament in Strasbourg. At the plenary session, Mr Kristersson spoke about the Swedish Presidency’s priorities.

“As the new Presidency of the Council, we aim to build on the excellent work of the French and Czech presidencies. We intend to continue in the same spirit when we seek solutions in the Council – and with the Parliament and the Commission.

Our obvious point of departure – everybody´s first priority – is Ukraine.

Nothing else is as important. But this is not simply crisis management – this is about fighting for democracy and fighting for decency. Ukrainian victory is existential for Europe – and, honestly – for the entire world”, said Mr Kristersson in the presentation.
