Sensex Slips 200 Pts, Nifty Opens Below 18,300; Adani Enterprises Jump, Realty, Metal Stocks Lose

Domestic equities opened lower on Wednesday amid mixed global cues. BSE benchmark Sensex plunged 202.26 points, or 0.33 per cent to open at 61,779.53, while, broader NSE Nifty50 tanked 50 points, or 0.27 per cent to open at 18,298.

Adani stocks continued their rally for the third day straight as Adani Enterprises gained nearly 2 per cent to Rs 2,685 on NSE.

Sun Pharma, Dr Reddy’s, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Hero MotoCorp, PowerGrid, Titan, Bajaj Finance, and Nestle India were the top gaining stocks in the morning trade.

Meanwhile, Hindalco, Wipro, ICICI Bank, HCL Tech, UltraTech Cement, M&M, Bajaj Finserv, IndusInd Bank, HDFC, HDFC Bank, and Infosys were among the top losing stocks in the early trade.

Broader markets also extended losses in the morning trade, Nifty 100 tanked 0.27 per cent, Nifty 200 was trading 0.25 per cent lower, Nifty 500 fell 0.22 per cent, while, Nifty Midcap 50 was down 0.21 per cent by 9.20 am.

Sectorally, the Nifty Pharma index jumped 0.55 per cent, media and healthcare index gained 0.51 per cent each. Meanwhile, the metal index fell 0.48 per cent, the IT index was down 0.47 per cent, and the realty index plunged 0.51 per cent.
