Skills And Competences For The Green Transition On Council Education Meeting Agenda
On 7 March, Minister for Schools Lotta Edholm will chair a meeting on education at the Council of the European Union in Brussels.
The education ministers will meet to approve Council conclusions on skills and competences for the green transition, and a debate on measures to address teacher shortages is also on the agenda.
“The green transition of society is necessary. Education is crucial to meet the needs for new skills and competencies. The new Council conclusions show the EU’s common objectives in education, skills development and retraining.”

Skills and competences for the green transition
The education ministers will meet in Brussels to approve conclusions on skills and competences for the green transition. The Council conclusions focus on the importance of education for the development of green skills and competences, particularly in vocational training, higher education and adult learning.
Policy debate on teacher shortage
The ministers will also discuss the teacher shortage and hold a policy debate on teachers as the cornerstone of a successful European Education Area.
Day of European Authors
The European Commission will provide information about its initiative called the Day of European Authors, which will be celebrated for the first time on 27 March 2023.
