Although ghost stories are often scoffed at, there have been instances that defy logic. Reportedly, some people have experienced bizarre sightings, and have managed to survive to narrate those tales.
In fact, there have been numerous instances where people had road accidents for some weird reason. Some national highways are even believed to have a history of being haunted, and no one can explain what goes on these routes!

Delhi-Jaipur Highway
The reason behind the haunting of the Delhi-Jaipur highway is believed to be the Bhangarh Fort, which is touted to be one of the most haunted places in India. People have claimed that they have experienced frightening things on this highway; things that have no logical explanation.
2-Lane East Coast Road, Chennai- Pondicherry
Chennai and Pondicherry are connected by the 2-Lane East Coast Road, and this route is believed to be eerie and accident-prone to say the least. Reports claim that people driving along this road have seen a woman in a white saree, who appears out of nowhere. This is followed by drivers losing control of their steering wheel, leading to the number of accidents on this road increasing drastically.
NH 209, Tamil Nadu
Remember dacoit Veerappan, who was notoriously famous for kidnapping, smuggling, and murdering people? Well, if you drive along NH 209 that passes through the Sathyamangalam Wildlife Sanctuary, you will sense that the highway is haunted. It is believed that this stretch is haunted by the ghost of Veerappan, and one can hear hysterical laughter and even spot floating lights in the dark. People claim that the dacoit still wanders through this highway, and continues to haunt the pathway, which he once used to call home.
Kashedi Ghat, Mumbai-Goa Highway
Referred to as one of the most haunted highways of India, not just Kashedi Ghat, but the entire highway is believed to be haunted. There have been claims where people stated that they have been scratched on their face, neck, and back by some unknown force. Victims have also claimed that their car halted at some point in the highway abruptly, and non-vegetarian food disappeared from their vehicle!
Khooni Nala, Jammu-Srinagar Highway
As per reports, several bizarre accidents have occured here, the reason why locals have started referring to this highway by the name of Khooni Nala. Reports have it that a lady committed suicide here while she was expecting a baby, and now her spirit roams here with an infant. It is believed that this spirit is responsible for distracting drivers, thereby leading to car crashes in the gorge.
